2000
Liz Claiborne launched a teen dating violence awareness and education program and created a third handbook called "What You Need To Know About Dating Violence: A Teen's Handbook." It follows the story of a teenage couple in a violent relationship, and it includes special sections to help teens understand dating violence and provide them with tools to deal with the issue.
The Company also created a Web site where supplementary information and resources can be found, including an interactive quiz on dating violence. The handbook and additional content can be downloaded free at www.loveisnotabuse.com (also found via a link from www.lizclaiborne.com), and was available from October-December 2000 on the popular teen site www.Alloy.com.
Liz Claiborne introduced new fundraising items in 2000: a set of leather bangle bracelets and a T-shirt, each carrying the campaign message "love is not abuse." The items were sold through the Women's Work product order line and were available for purchase in stores during October. Furthermore, Liz Claiborne hosted its seventh annual Charity Shopping Day and continued its title sponsorship of the second annual "New York Walks To End Domestic Violence."
