1993
Liz Claiborne Inc. concluded that the Women's Work resources could best be maximized by focusing on one issue—domestic violence—and commissioned its second public awareness campaign.
That year, artist Barbara Kruger created powerful images that were displayed on billboards in Boston and Miami during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, October 1993. The program also featured a radio public service announcement (PSA) campaign, educational posters and brochures, and the first in a series of limited-edition, commemorative fundraising items based on the Kruger images, the sale of which benefited domestic violence programs.
