Liz Claiborne Inc. Debuts "Love is Not Abuse" Fundraising Collection
Monies Raised Will Benefit National Domestic Violence Organizations
NEW YORK, NY - (August 17, 2004) - As part of Liz Claiborne Inc.'s 13-year domestic violence public awareness and educational campaign, the apparel company is introducing a limited-edition collection of fundraising accessories that will not only keep women warm and fashionable this holiday season, but also send a powerful message that "Love Is Not Abuse".
Beginning October 1, the collection, which includes a knit scarf ($20), gloves ($12), and a long-sleeved cotton T-shirt ($20), will be available for purchase online at www.lizclaiborne.com, by calling 1-800-449-STOP (7867), and at Rich's-Macy's. Profits from online and phone sales will benefit the Family Violence Prevention Fund, a San Francisco-based, national non-profit organization focusing on domestic violence prevention, education and public policy reform; and the National Domestic Violence Hotline, a counseling and information resource for victims of domestic violence, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Proceeds from the sales at Rich's-Macy's will benefit local domestic violence organizations.
"What better way to celebrate a season of giving than with a gift that shows you care, not only about the recipient, but also about the millions of women and children who suffer from abuse in this country each year," says Jane Randel, vice president of corporate communications at Liz Claiborne Inc. "Targeted anti-abuse messages, such as the one delivered in our new fundraising collection, are great vehicles for educating the public and driving awareness of this important societal issue."
Accessories to Warm the Heart
The chocolate-brown, knit scarf features alternating orange and pink stripes on one side and four small, alternating orange and pink hearts—the campaign's signature emblem—across each end of the reverse side ($20, one size).
Available separately ($12, one size) or as part of a scarf and glove set ($30), the chocolate-brown gloves are accented with an orange heart in the palm of one glove and a pink heart in the other.
This year's limited-edition T-shirt comes in chocolate-brown and features eight small, alternating pink and orange hearts across the front, four of which have the campaign's message—the words "Love Is Not Abuse"—emblazoned inside. The 100% cotton, long-sleeved T-shirt is available in Small, Medium, Extra Large and 3X ($20).
